Chris Robshaw at Rileys Haymarket

Chris Robshaw at Rileys Haymarket

When we received a call from Zeus Events to host a Chris Robshaw testimonial night at Rileys Haymarket, we all had one look at each other in the office and thought one thing – what a fantastic opportunity this is to show what we can do with our screen technology for an event. To celebrate ten years in professional rugby, Robshaw was hosting a sports night filled with beer, banter and bar games, as well as a raffle and Q&A hosted by Sky Sports’ Alex Payne. The Harlequins player also brought with him a select few of his rugby mates, including Nick Easter and Marland Yarde. Pilsner Urquell were partners of the event, showcasing their portable bars along with two tanks of beer to keep the rugby fans well fuelled. Magnify Marketing’s challenge was to bring the event to life through the 30 different screens in the venue and encourage high levels of social engagement. Content selection was critical using some key videos...

American Sports bars

American Sports bars

Whilst I believe the UK is one of the best places to enjoy sports in pubs and bars, a recent research trip allowed us the opportunity to understand how it’s done stateside. Now many would say the Americans invented the sports bar concept so it was great to see what the mighty city of New York had to offer. A place with legendary teams like the Knicks, Yankees, Rangers, Jets, Giants and the boxing mecca that is Madison Square Garden. Now the set up across all the venues we saw were similar with seating a priority. And this we believe is in part because of cultural differences with US sports (apart from the MLS) as they are dominated by tactical breaks filled with adverts. These increased breaks means the games are longer, so you want to sit down and for that length of time your going to get hungry (I'm talking 2 courses versus a pie or burger). Table service is...

2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil – Activity and Review at Walkabout Bars

2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil – Activity and Review at Walkabout Bars

Now that Brazil 2014 has drawn to a close, we're left to review its success for our clients and Walkabout in particular, where we implemented an unprecedented level of activity for a UK bar group.   Screach TV Prior to the World Cup, we helped install Screach TV into the majority of Walkabout venues and then worked on the content that would shape our World Cup experience. Here's an example of some of the team content that we produced for customers to view prior to the match. We produced team profiles, player profiles, match promo clips and squad lists for each of the 32 nations and scheduled it accordingly for each of the 64 matches!       Partnerships We secured a commercial partnership with Kitbag (market leading official sportswear provider) in addition to our existing deal with BetVernons.  Kitbag suitably provided us with the kit for our staff to wear during the matches. Both Walkabout and Kitbag were equally 'giddy about Brazil'.     BetVernons representatives were also on hand during...
